The Urban Search and Rescue Vehicle (USAR) is a quick response vehicle specifically designed to react to international emergencies at short notice. When initiated, the fully equipped USAR will be transported via C130H aircraft to international incident sites for Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) to assist in relief efforts in the aftermath of natural disasters such as earthquakes and tsunamis.
USAR was built to be as light as possible to maximise payload weight when on board the aircraft. With the lowest height clearance possible, the vehicle is able to fit inside the aircraft whilst complying with required ground clearances, approach angles and departure angles to enter and exit the aircraft easily. There is also a height adjustable rear canopy installed which can be configured for low height settings in aircraft loading mode and reconfigured to a high setting so that the vehicle can double up as a personnel/casualty transporter or transport large/oversized items.
